Welcome to the Imperial Institute of Art and Design

Marathwada Region, has a very rich and glorious background of Art and literature since the golden age of Gupta Empire, Marathwada can very rightly be called the land of Art culture as it is the land which proudly possesses the World famous monuments of Art like AJANTA and ELLORA. It was here that great saint like Dnyaneswar was inspired to write commentary of Bhagwat Geeta which is known as DNYANESHWARI. This was the land where great Empires came in existence and made history. The temples, mosques, gurudwaras and numerous historic monuments echo the rich cultural heritage even to this day. Considering the past history and present situation, the Government of Maharashtra decided to establish and Arts College to facilitate the art students of the region to perpetuate the rich cultural heritage for future too. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, which its historic and natural beauty was an ideal choice and on 13th August 1971, the idea turned out into an Art College where 42 students with equally small number of art teachers began their artistic voyage.

OBJECTIVES:- The aims and objectives of this Institute are to provide facilities for the creative talent for specialised proffessional talent opportunities in the field of visual Art

The institute very soon grew into a full-fledged art College and today conducts specialized B.F.A. Degree Courses in Painting, Applied Art & Textile Design. Art Teachers Diploma & about 350 students are receiving art education under the able guidance of about 25 most efficient and expert art teachers. The College has its own adequate library along with the most up-to-date facilities in departments like computer Lab, Animation Studio, Photography, Screen Printing and Print making Department. The College has been affiliated to the Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Degree Courses in (1) painting and (2) Applied Art have been introduced since 1981 & Textile Design Degree Course has been introduced 2011. Above all courses except Art Teachers Diploma Course are approved by all India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. During the period of last 41 years number of students from this College have been awarded prizes and honored in many Exhibitions of State & National level. The staff members of the College are also very active in the field of art and have been participating and winning awards and honors in major art exhibitions in state, National & International level. To-day the Art College is forging ahead with its short but prosperous background for its mission. This Institute is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
